2016 Call for Papers

Do you have research, a study, or a program you’d love to share with your peers from around Australia? We welcome a range of speakers from primary teachers through to tertiary lecturers and researchers.

Presentations can be made in English or Japanese as an individual or as a panel.

You need to send your paper proposal by 1st August 2016 (extended).

The Melbourne Centre for Japanese Language Education together with The Japan Foundation, Sydney is pleased to announce the third National Symposium on Japanese Language Education: 2016VISIBLE and VALUABLE [NSJLE: 2016] which will be held in Melbourne on November 4 and 5. This symposium is the only national forum for Japanese language educators, it brings together JL educators and presenters from every sector, every level and every state and territory.

The theme of the NSJLE 2016 is ‘Visible and Valuable’ with a focus on best practice and advocacy. To maintain the current strong position and build the strength of Japanese language education in Australia, educators must advocate the benefits of learning Japanese and improve Japanese language learning experiences through best practice and innovative programs.

Presenters will be invited to submit their paper or practical report to be considered for the official proceedings, to be published after the conference. More details soon.

  • Innovative programs – models for success
  • Australian Curriculum: Languages – Japanese
  • Today’s Japan
  • The Current State of Japanese Language Education

Presentations can be made in English or Japanese.

All submissions will be considered by an independent panel and the applicants notified by 1 August 2016. Presenters are required to register and pay for the symposium.

10th Floor of the University of Melbourne Law Building [same building as the symposium] from 7pm.
